독일 현지 시각으로 18일, 게임스컴 어워드 2025의 후보작들이 발표됐다. 국제적인 게임 전문가 및 콘텐츠 크리에이터로 구성된 심사위원단은 올해 출품된 수많은 작품들 중에서 가장 유망하고 창의적인 타이틀을 선정했다고 전했다.
캡콤의 <레지던트 이블 레퀴엠>은 5개 부문 후보에 오르며 최다 노미네이션을 기록했다. 해당 작품은 아트(ARTS) 부문 그룹에서 '베스트 비주얼', '베스트 오디오', '베스트 게임플레이', '베스트 에픽' 부문에 이름을 올렸다.
펄어비스의 <붉은사막>은 '베스트 비주얼', '모스트 에픽', '베스트 엑스박스 게임', '베스트 PS 게임' 등 4곳에 이름을 올리며 뒤를 이었다. 플랫폼 별 부문 그룹에서는 기어박스의 <보더랜드 4>, 반다이남코의 <토와와 신목에 선택받은 아이들> 등이 경쟁하게 된다.
2025년에는 글로벌(GLOBAL) 부문이 확장됐다. 기존의 '하트 오브 게이밍(HEART OF GAMING)' 어워드 외에, 심사위원들이 선정하는 '최고의 라인업', '최고의 부스', '최고의 비즈니스 부스' 부문이 신설되었다. 또한 커뮤니티 투표로만 수상작이 결정되는 '최고의 트레일러/발표', '최고의 굿즈', '최고의 부스(소비자상)' 부문이 추가됐다.
게임스컴 팬과 방문객은 8월 20일 수요일부터 8월 21일 목요일 오후 2시(CEST)까지 아트 및 플랫폼 부문과 함께 '최고의 부스(소비자상)', '최고의 굿즈', '최고의 트레일러/발표' 부문에서 자신이 좋아하는 게임에 투표할 수 있다. 투표는 게임스컴 공식 웹사이트와 현장 QR 코드를 통해 참여할 수 있다.
