Blade&Soul is expected to launch in July

May 15th, 2012

NCsoft announced at the earning call on the 15th of May that there has not been any changes on the service schedule of Blade&Soul. NCsoft is working hard to have OBT during the first half of 2012 and predicting OBT in June and public service in July.

The 3rd CBT will be closed on the 22nd of May. With considering 3 weeks of OBT and public service on July, it is possible that OBT will start the middle of June.

NCsoft thinks of the launch of Diablo3 as a chance to increase a gaming user pool. The company will try to attract as many gamers as possible within the increased pool.

NCsoft has homework to do as well. The vitality system that was applied during the 3rd CBT period has made a huge controversy among users. The vitality system controls the experience points that users could gain along with playing time. The system is made for casual users. Therefore, complains from hardcore users are extreme now.

NCsoft is carefully looking at the vitality system during the 3rd CBT because they need to re-balance the system somehow before the public service. The goal of Blade&Soul is to attract as many casual gamers as possible, so NCsoft has made the game easy to play.

B&S Likely to Go OBT Without 3rd CBT

August 29th, 2011

NCsoft kicks off 2nd CBT of <Blade & Soul> today in the largest size ever in MMORPG history in Korea. Industry guesses the CBT would be the last test for NCsoft prior to upcoming OBT which is set to launch this year.

Total 4 servers and 50 PC bangs will be operated for the 2nd CBT. each of the servers will sustain maximum 7,000 gamers which will eventually add up to 30,000 CCU with the PC bangs.

The 2nd CBT features gathering and craft systems and antagonistic relationship of players in addtion to introducing new class Assassine and 10 instant dungeons.

“We plan to start OBT within this year but it won’t be so long even if it kicks off late,” said JaeHo Lee the vice president of NCsoft.

Since the 1st CBT took place in April and the next one is taking place 4 months after the first one, there is not quite enough time to have 3rd test before having OBT this year.

In addition to that, NCsoft gives away limited costume items that can be used at OBT to the testers this time while the 1st CBT participants were given priority over the 2nd CBT in the past.

So as far as we can presume, NCsoft is hoping to kick off OBT without having CBT three times.

“We have no further plan now as we do not address our schedule until we believe in our game’s completion,” said NCsoft. “The amount of work we would be dealing with depends on the feedback and result of the 2nd CBT. So the next move would be fixed after this test.”
