NCsoft’s Next Games Powered by Unreal Engine 3

Unreal Engine 3 is going to be used for NCsoft’s next generation games. Epic Games announced yesterday that it has entered into a strategic partnership of the engine with NCsoft.

They also remarked that the single contract would be the biggest Unreal Engine license contract ever in Asia for Epic Games.

NCsoft has already worked with Epic Games for its two MMORPG <Lineage 2> and <Blade & Soul>, respectively powered by Unreal Engine 2 and 3.

“The Unreal Engine has allowed us focusing on creativity and development of <Lineage 2> and <Blade & Soul>. With our own experience of the engine, we believe that we would develop games more efficiently and take advantage of it as much as possible,” said HyungJoon Kim the director of NCsoft.

Blizzard to Hold Korean e-Sports in Las Vegas

Final match of 2011 Sony Ericsson GSL Season 6 took place in Blizzcon last year

Blizzard Entertainment and its Korean e-Sports broadcasting partner GomTV are going to hold a final match of 2012 Global <Starcraft 2> Team League(GSTL) season 1 on stage of IGN Pro League(IPL) 4 taking place in Las Vegas, the U.S. on the 7th of April.

IGN has asked GomTV to produce a <Starcraft 2> program for the IPL 4 and hold the final match of 2012 GSTL season 1 at the site. This would be the second time for Korean e-Sports holding the final match abroad following Sony Ericsson GSL season 6 took place in Blizzcon last year.

“It’s honor to land GomTV’s technology and GSTL in Las Vegas where is a mecca of global sports. We will do our best to uphold the name of home of e-Sports,” said InSik Bae the CEO of GomTV.

Nexon to Publish Crytek’s Warface in Korea and Taiwan

Nexon and Crytek signed a publishing agreement of online FPS game <Warface> for Korea and Taiwan.

<Warface> is Crytek’s first online game made by CryEngine3, featuring ultimate graphics, AI, physical effect, and other FPS elements.

“It’s pleasure to service FPS expert Crytek’s first online game. With our experience based on diverse online FPS games we have published, we will do our best to provide the best environment for the best game to our customers,” said Min Seo the CEO of Nexon.

“I am so glad to introduce <Warface> to Korea and Taiwan via the best partner Nexon. In combination with Crytek’s high-end technology and in-depth gaming DNA and Nexon’s rich experience in operation, it would bring a revolution to Korea,” said Cevat Yerli the founder and CEO of Crytek.

New FPS from Counter Striker Creator Revealed

The creator of 13-year-old FPS game <Counter Striker>, still boasting  daily concurrent user of 70,000 today tho, has brought a new military FPS game called <Tactical Intervention>.

<Tactical Intervention>, developed by FIX Korea, is a brand new strategic, modern, tactical, and team-based FPS game. Minh ‘Gooseman’ Le, the creator, said he has put all the features that he had tried to achieve with his old title in this project, such as a gunfight while driving a car, fighting with an army dog, jumping into an enemy camp by rappelling from a building, taking citizens hostage or even using them as human shields.

League of Legends to Hit 200,000 CCU Soon

Riot Games’ <League of Legends> is about to hit 200,000 concurrent use(CCU) in Korea after three months of the local service.

According to a game ranking website Gametrics the AOS game has hit top 20 online games last December and is recording 8.98% market share of internet cafe following FPS game <Sudden Attack> and MMORPG <Aion>.

Once an e-Sports league ‘LoL Invitational’ hosted by OnGameNet kicked off on the 21st of January, the internet cafe has revved up even more.
