NCsoft Acquires Casual Power Ntreev Soft

NCsoft has wholly acquired Ntreev Soft after 7 months of negotiation with SK Telecom today, taking over 76% share of the firm at KRW108 billion(US$96.7M).

A popular online golf game <Pangya> and an online horse racing game <Alicia>’s Ntreev Soft has been a strong casual games developer while NCsoft has been known as a strong MMORPG company with <Lineage>, <Lineage 2>, <Aion>, <Blade&Soul>, and <Guild Wars 2>.

NCsoft has always been hungry for casual online games because it has had hard time with its past casual online games such as <Toy Strikers>, <Exteel>, <Point Blank>, <Atrix>, <Dragonica>, and <Punch Monster>.

Pro-baseball Manager

Therefore the acquisition would satisfy NCsoft’s old wish and especially would create a powerful synergy effect since Ntreev Soft has owned <Pro-baseball Manager> pulling in about US$2.7M a month and NCsoft has founded a pro-baseball club named NC Dinos last year.

Ntreev Soft is still going to be independent after the acquisition though. “For now there would be no such big change within Ntreev Soft’s structure or games. The cash policy and management for our games would persist as well,” said Ntreev Soft.

It plans to introduce three new games including an AOS game <Heroes of Newerth>, an action MORPG <Power Ranger Online>, and a Chinese MMORPG <Age of Wushu> this year. Its self-developed <Alicia> is also going to be introduced in Japan this year.
